In a poll marred by disqualifications, independent candidate emerges winner for DUSU president’s post. ABVP, NSUI, AND Samajwadi Party backed SCS win one seat each.
A day after elections were held for various posts of DUSU, independent candidate Manoj Choudhary was declared elected as the president of the student body defeating his nearest rival Bajinder Singh of AISF by a thin margin of 11 votes on Saturday. Immediately after the results, Choudhary was seen in the ABVP celebration rally with the saffron students’ wing claiming that he was their back-up candidate (ABVP’s official candidate was disqualified for violating the model code of conduct). ABVP’s lone candidate Kriti Wadhera won the post of vice- president , defeating her closest rival Anurag Sharma by 2,546 votes. The lone NSUI candidate, Arshdeep Kaur won the post of secretary by 4,181 votes. Anupriya Tyagi of the SCS won the post of joint secretary by 2,987 votes.
