Ris Low, 19, was crowned as Miss Singapore World 2009 on 31st July, 2009. In addition to winning the crown, Low also won Miss Community Ambassadress 2009, Miss Lumiere Ambassadress 2009, Miss Dazzling Eyes 2009, Miss Photogenic 2009, Miss Crowning Glory 2009 and Miss Best in Catwalk 2009.
Ris Low resigned on Tuesday and will not be representing Singapore at the Miss World Contest in South Africa. It was revealed that she had been convicted of credit card fraud and was sentenced to two years of probation. She faced five charges of misappropriation, stealing credit cards and impersonating their users’ identities prior to winning the title. The Straits Times said Low told the newspaper she has bipolar disorder. Low’s replacement for Miss World has not yet been chosen, the newspaper said.
