Woman in iron lung for 60 years dies

June MiddletonJune Middleton, a Melbourne woman who contracted polio at the age of 22 and spent 60 years of her life in an iron lung died at Thornbury Nursing Home on Friday. She was 83. She made to the Guinness World Records in 2006 for spending the longest time in an iron lung.

According to News.com.au reports, she celebrated 60 years with friends and her dog, Angel, by her side at her home at Yooralla’s Ventilator Accommodation Support Service (VASS).
