Porsche is revealing its new top version of the Porsche Boxster, a light mid-engined roadster Boxster Spyder. This new mid-engined roadster represents the true, purist form of the Porsche sports car-light, powerful, consistently open and very efficient.
This third Boxster model will join the Boxster and Boxster S and will make its world debut at the forthcoming 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show, 2nd December, 2009.
The Boxster Spyder features a 3.4 liters six cylinders with Direct Fuel Injection upfront of the rear axle. It gives a maximum output of 320 horsepower, 10bhp more than in the Boxster S and 273 pound-feet of torque. It weighs 173 pound less than the Boxster S plus an all-new sports suspension and has a lower centre of gravity. The new Spyder accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.
Sales of the new Porsche Boxster Spyder will start worldwide in February 2010. The base price in the European country is 53,100 Euros. Including 19% VAT and national specifications, the market price of the new Porsche Boxster Spyder is 63,404 Euros. The retail price and market launch date vary by region or country.
